Littleton, New Hampshire has at one time been called the “crossroads of the North country”. This small town was settled in 1770 along the banks of the Ammonoosuc River. Throughout much of its history it has served as a commerce center in the White Mountains regions of New Hampshire.

Starting in the late 1700s, Littleton began its settlement as a manufacturing center in the area. The diverse markets of industry included whiskey, farm implements, textiles, furniture, and transportation devices. Business and commerce remain important to the town even today.

The small town’s main street depicts the historical nature of the town and its manufacturing background. Don’t expect brick warehouses and smokestacks, however. Main Street in downtown Littleton houses several bookstores, restaurants, boutiques, and even a historical museum highlighting the industry of stereographing.

Littleton is also a central resource for access to outdoor recreation. The nearby White Mountains and the White Mountain national Forest make this an ideal vacation retreat for families that want to get away and explore nature.

Just outside of Littleton is another small town of Bethlehem. Since the mid-1800s, this place was once known as a refuge for those suffering allergies. That will have occupies a plateau that provides an amazing views of White Mountain.

It is also a great place to get some beautiful pictures.
Thayers Inn – a historical landmark that greets travelers coming into town. This 1850s structure boasts a beautiful colonial style. This edifice is a treasure to the city. It has been visited by presidents and generals.
